What is a wall plug and what is it used for?
A wall plug is a plastic fastening component inserted into a drilled hole so a screw can grip the wall securely. As the screw tightens, the wall plug expands and locks against the wall, bearing the load. In curtain rail installation, wall plugs are used to fix L brackets and mounting fittings to the wall.
What’s the difference between 7mm and 8mm wall plugs?
The number refers to the wall plug’s diameter. The 8mm wall plug is thicker than the 7mm and is used in applications requiring a larger hole and higher load capacity. The screw and drill bit should be matched to the wall plug diameter.
When is the nail wall plug used?
The nail wall plug is preferred for installations requiring fast mounting. Since it’s fitted by hammering rather than screwing, it’s quicker to install. Its plastic nails are made from a special composite material for durability.
